Digital Sovereignty and Cybersecurity
Today, manufacturing companies face a twofold challenge: They must consistently digitize their quality processes while simultaneously protecting their sensitive quality data effectively against cyberattacks and unintended data leaks. More and more companies are responding to geopolitically volatile times by bringing their systems and data “back home”—either to their own on-premises facilities or to a rented data center (“private cloud”). “Digital sovereignty”—that is, the ability to determine at any time where one’s own data is stored (and who can access it)—is a buzzword that QUIPSY customers also like to use in this context. Especially in light of regulations such as the U.S. Cloud Act, but also given the growing cybersecurity threat landscape, it makes sense to rely on QUIPSY.
QUIPSY has always been a guarantor of digital sovereignty, as it has always maintained full control over all data (inspection plans, drawings, measurement values, etc.). This makes it completely simple and hassle-free to migrate “on-premises” or to a rented data center at any time—without requiring the consent or support of third parties. This effectively prevents data from being transferred to third parties for training purposes, such as AI training. QUIPSY is essentially designed from the ground up for this scenario and is extremely flexible when it comes to “data migration.”
Furthermore, QUIPSY is constantly adapted to the state of the art, which also includes increasing cybersecurity measures. QUIPSY is continuously adapted to new regulatory requirements, including those of the Cyber Resilience Act. A successful cyberattack can not only compromise data but also bring entire production and testing processes to a standstill. That is why QUIPSY supports IT security concepts that ensure secure and reliable system availability: Logging in with biometrically protected passkeys and centralized identity management with single sign-on are ensured through support for OIDC (OpenID Connect), for example, with integration into Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID.
